Roto test for film…
Author: JasonHere is the first major roto test for my next film The Ripening. The background is just placeholder and it is missing the 3D element. I animated it in 3D and then rotoscoped the 3D in Photoshop. It was taking me about 3 min a frame on my tiny tablet – hoping that the cintiq will speed this up a bit. Enjoy!

Delgo’s release
Author: JasonIt isn’t often that one gets to take a stab at a life goal, let alone achieve it. Delgo was that for alot of us at Fathom for Marc and I especially. Marc held onto his belief that such a thing could be done outside of Hollywood and made here in Georgia. If it wasn’t for his tireless efforts and unshakeable belief – it probably never would have been made. So thanks Marc for giving us all an opportunity to tackle a dream -I’ll never forget it.
I wanted to extend a personal thank you to everyone who has gone to see Delgo and support our film. While it has received pretty negative reviews overall, and I have personally received some pretty nasty hate mail via this blog- yeah can you believe it- I’m still proud of what we accomplished considering all of the hurdles and challenges we faced.
I’m not going to waste time attempting to defend it or offer up excuses – rather I’ll simply say that we made a film outside of hollywood for good or bad – we made it. It happened, got screen time and people saw it – that in of itself is a feat.
Our cast and crew were top notch and worked countless hours to put it all together and they deserve a huge thank you for all their work and taking a chance on a bunch of first timers. It could not have been made without them.
So thank you all for your support and those of you who have sent me messages and emails of the positive/constructive nature – thank you for your kind words.

Delgo news – NEW trailer online!!!
Author: JasonWell Delgo fans – there is a new trailer online at…
http://www.apple.com/trailers/independent/delgo/
It is really well put together, makes me want to see the film all over again. : ) There is one major typo on the page that we are aware of and hoping that Apple fixes immediately - my name is not listed along side Marcs as Director.
It is not a conspiracy. No-one deliberately dropped off my name – we are having constant problems with companies dropping off the second name as director. Marc gets lucky because we did the credits alphabetically – Adler comes before Maurer…
So the world is clear Delgo was Co-Directed by Marc Adler and Jason Maurer and Animation Direction was done by Warren Grubb. Also we are all listed with proper credits on www.imdb.com.
If anyone out there whom reads this has a direct contact or knows someone who has a direct contact at Apple for the individual who makes the changes to the trailers sites -please shoot me their contact info. I’ve emailed trailers@mac.com and I know that Marc has contacted whom he knows there – but we want this changed immediately.
Thanks again for all your support and help! Take a look and shoot me your thoughts!

Delgo on earth? I can’t believe it!!
Author: JasonOk sports fans… Warren shot me this link
http://www.darkroastedblend.com/2008/09/most-alien-looking-place-on-earth.html
What is truly wack about this is that almost ALL of these plants, landscapes, etc are literally in Delgo. Now I know what you are thinking… we ripped them off … but I swear to you all that I’ve never seen them before – and I’m pretty sure our Art Directors hadn’t either – although we’d have to ask them to be sure.
For a second lets say that they didn’t know – how is it that we created these things and that they now exist? Did they tap into some greater sub conscious thing, was it genetic memory coming through – maybe they vulcan mind melded with the Earth… either way I’m totally freaked out!

Delgo news and updates…
Author: JasonWell we have finally done it – Delgo was awarded Best Feature film at the Anima Mundi festival this month. We have been fortunate enough to have it screened at SICAF in Korea, Annecy in France, Red Stick in USA (article on the screening)and Anima Mundi in Brazil. While we only picked up an award at Anima Mundi, I am very grateful and proud that we were able to screen our film at all these prestigious festivals. Our cast and crew worked tirelessly for many years to bring our vision to life and it could not have been done without their dedication, passion and patience. It was an honor to work with all of them, and I hope that someday we will be able to collaborate again.
Way to go guys! Congrats to you all!!!

DELGO wins Best Feature Film at Anima Mundi 2008
Festival’s audience of 100,000 selected the winner
RIO DE JANEIRO, July 21, 2008 — Anima Mundi, one of the largest and most prominent animation festivals in the world, has awarded the American film, Delgo, the Best Animated Feature of the year.
The Anima Mundi award for Best Feature Film is determined by an audience of approximately 100,000 people. Anima Mundi director, Cesar Coelho, stated, “We believe it’s important for film enthusiasts to decide on the winner rather than a panel of jurors or film critics. Everyone who watches the selected films has an opportunity to voice their opinion.”
The final cut of Delgo premiered at the Brazilian animation festival. Winning films at Anima Mundi were selected from thousands of submissions from over 70 countries.
Delgo is a fantasy action-adventure of a world’s struggle for unity. The all-star voice cast includes Freddie Prinze, Jr., Jennifer Love Hewitt, Anne Bancroft, Val Kilmer, Chris Kattan, Malcolm McDowell, Lou Gossett, Jr., Kelly Ripa, Michael Clarke Duncan, Eric Idle, Sally Kellerman and Burt Reynolds.
“After many years of development and production, it’s exhilarating to have such a positive reception from audiences,” said Producer Marc F. Adler, who, with Jason Maurer directed the feature film. “Seeing the reactions from festival attendees as they watched our film made all our hard work worthwhile.”
Delgo was also an official selection of Annecy (France) and SICAF (Korea) film festivals, two of the world’s most prominent animation festivals.
Ken Kamins of Key Creatives, representing Fathom Studios, notes a wide domestic theatrical release for Delgo will be announced shortly.
